Starting dance class for the first time is an exciting step—whether your dancer is twirling into our Tiny Tots class or leaping into jazz for the first time. At MC Dance, we want every dancer to feel confident, comfortable, and excited the moment they walk through our doors. That’s why we’ve created a helpful Dancer Checklist to make sure your dancer is fully prepared to shine from day one!
Here’s how to make the first day smooth and successful:

✅ 1. Arrive on Time (or a Little Early!)
Being punctual sets the tone for a calm, confident class. Give yourself time to settle in, find your studio, and greet your teacher with a smile.
👟 2. Wear Proper Dance Attire & Shoes
Dress for success! Your dancer should come in the correct attire (ballet, tap, jazz, etc.), and don’t forget their shoes. Proper attire helps them move freely—and feel like a true dancer!
🎒 3. Come Prepared
A little preparation goes a long way. Bring a water bottle, have hair neatly pulled back, and carry any necessary items like a notebook, dance bag, or props if requested.
🤝 4. Show Kindness & Respect
We foster a community of encouragement and positivity. Dancers are expected to be kind and respectful to their teachers, classmates, and staff.
💃 5. Respect the Studio Space
Treating our dance home with care shows responsibility. Keep your belongings organized and be mindful of the shared space.
🚫 6. No Running Inside the Studio
Safety is always a priority! While we love energetic dancers, the studio is not a playground—save the speed for your across-the-floor combinations.
👂 7. Listen & Minimize Distractions
Stay engaged! Listening carefully and keeping conversation low helps everyone focus, learn, and grow together.
✋ 8. Keep Hands to Yourself
Dancers should maintain personal space and be gentle with one another.
💭 9. Have a Positive Mindset
Every dancer will learn at their own pace. A positive attitude and a willingness to try will help your dancer grow leaps and bounds!
🌟 10. Try Your Very Best
Effort always shines through! Encourage your dancer to give their best, have fun, and take pride in each small accomplishment.
