Costume Photo Week is one of the most exciting times of the season at MC Dance! It’s w
hen we capture the hard work, confidence, and joy your dancer has built all year long. These photos become treasured keepsakes—and even part of our Memory Book!
To help everything run smoothly and ensure your dancer looks and feels their best, here’s your guide to a stress-free and successful Costume Photo Week.
What to Expect
During costume photo week, both group and individual photos will be taken during your dancer’s regular class time.
Combo classes will take ballet photos first, followed by tap.
Group photos will be featured in our annual Memory Book.
If you purchased a Memory Book ad, you can use an individual photo at no extra cost.
This is such a special opportunity to celebrate your dancer’s progress and accomplishments!
Getting Your Dancer Ready
Preparation is everything when it comes to picture-perfect results! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CHECK LIST!!
Hair, Makeup & Costume
Hair and makeup should match showcase performance style.
Make sure costumes are clean, wrinkle-free, and complete.
Tights & Shoes (VERY Important!)
Brand new tights are required.
(Holes and stains will show in photos!)
Bring the correct shoes for each class.
Clean shoes with a baby wipe before entering.
Pro Tip:
Wait to put dance shoes on until you arrive at the studio to keep them clean for the white backdrop.
Day-Of Logistics
To keep everything running efficiently:
Studios 1 & 2 will be used as dressing rooms.
Only dancers are allowed in the photo studio—this helps minimize distractions.
Once your dancer finishes all photos, you’re free to go.
Our team works hard to keep the process organized, quick, and fun for everyone!
Ordering Your Photos
You’ll have flexible options when it comes to purchasing your dancer’s photos:
📧 A pre-order email will be sent the week before Photo Week.
Choose to:
Pre-pay for a package (best pricing!)

Helping Your Dancer Feel Confident and Photo-Ready
While costumes and appearance are important, confidence is what truly stands out in photos. A little preparation at home can make a meaningful difference in how your dancer feels in front of the camera.
Use Positive Encouragement
Build excitement leading up to Photo Week by keeping your language positive and supportive. Simple statements like, “I can’t wait to see you in your costume,” or “Your hard work is going to shine,” help set a confident tone.
Practice at Home
Taking a few minutes to practice can help your dancer feel more comfortable and prepared.
Practice a strong, confident smile
Review their dance pose or standing posture
Encourage them to stand tall and relaxed
Familiarity helps reduce nerves and builds confidence.
Keep the Environment Calm
Photo day can feel different from a normal class, so creating a calm experience is key.
Arrive on time without rushing
Keep conversations light and encouraging
Avoid putting pressure on your dancer
A simple reminder like “Just have fun and do your best” goes a long way.
Focus on Comfort
Confidence often comes from feeling prepared and comfortable.
Try on costumes ahead of time
Make sure hair and accessories feel secure
Double-check that all items are ready to go
When dancers feel comfortable, they naturally present themselves with more confidence.
Emphasize the Experience
Remind your dancer that Photo Week is a celebration of their hard work throughout the season. It is not about perfection, but about showing their personality, feeling proud, and enjoying the moment.
The most memorable photos come from dancers who feel relaxed, confident, and happy.
