6-8 Year Olds

Primary I Ballet/Tap  (Age 6)

 This is a class for students who are new or returning to ballet. Students will continuing learning ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility.  Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn exercises to focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun.  We follow the Leap N' Learn Curriculum.  This class will perform in the Year Showcase in June.

Primary II Ballet/Tap (Age 7-8)

 This is a class for students who are new or returning to ballet. Students will continuing learning ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility.  During Ballet they will learn grace, poise, and confidence while exploring classic ballet technique.  This class is structured as a classical ballet class warm-up, full barre, adagio, petite allegro, and grande allegro.  Tap will inculde learning how to use the taps with the rhythm of the music with a concentration on combinations and precision. We follow the Leap N' Learn Curriculum.  This class will perform in the Year Showcase in June

Primary Jazz/Hip Hop (Ages 6-8)

A recreational jazz class for ages 6 -8. This class is designed for dancers to explore fun and  funky movement with exciting music and jazzy-style dancing. There will also be emphasis on gross motor and free style movement. It includes such elements as kicks, leaps, turns, splits, and isolations.  Hip Hop is a Fun and highly energized class using CLEAN, family friendly music. This class not only teaches you Hip Hop movements and technique, but also instills rhythm and precision in your muscle memory.  This class recommends that the student is also enrolled in a ballet class. This class will perform in the Year End Showcase in June.

 Musical Theatre I (Ages 4-6)

 Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.This class will perform in the Year End Showcase in June.

Lyrical/Improvisation I (Ages 7-9) 

Lyrical class is designed students with previous training in ballet. Students will explore a freer movement using basic techniques and skills from ballet, jazz and modern. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.  This class will perform in the Year End Showcase in June.

Students must take this class in conjunction with ballet.

Musical Theatre II (Ages 7 - 9)

: A recreational musical theatre/stage class for ages 8 yrs old and over.  Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions. Intermediate Turns & Leaps (Ages 7 - 10)

The leaps and turns class takes time to break down all forms of pirouettes, turns, kicks, jumps and leaps down to their basic level to help advance dancers in their other forms of dance. This class is great for any dancer or gymnast wanting to further advance their dance technique. The class only focuses on the technique of leaps and turns without performing any choreography. As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate THIS IS A NON-RECITAL DANCE CLASS

Acrobatics

  Acro style dance combines both the classical dance techniques with rhythmic/artistic gymnastics elements. Our acro instructor will guide the class towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, and muscle control. This is a great class in addition for any dancer, tumbler or gymnast wishing to further their tumbling skills while having fun! As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.  This class will perform in the Year End Showcase in June.

Zoo Kids I (Ariel Arts & Acro)

Zoo Kids is great for begin­ners!  Learn to climb, bal­ance, hang, and swing on aer­ial fab­ric. Kids will also learn basic  skills such as knee hangs and sit­ting and stand­ing on the bar. This is a fun class where younger stu­dents gain strength, flex­i­bil­ity, and con­fi­dence in a safe environment. Your "little animal"  will enjoy imagination and exploration- plus games! Swing, spin and play to your heart’s content. Students ages 5 to 10 will gain new skills and confidence in a fun safe environment with other students. Students will participate in our show in  June.

 

Clogging

Fun for ALL ages young and old!!  Clogging has become very popular in the South and is a style of dance unique in its style of stomping while keeping the upper body stiff. Clogging shoes have double taps on the front and back of the shoe. Our Clogging Classes are upbeat and have taken on a modern twist!  

This class will perform in the Year End Showcase in June.
